Abstract narrowing funnel illustration in slate and pale grey-blue on white — decorative header for Wearable Finder: Match a Watch or Tracker to Your Phone

Wearable finder: four questions, matched against the spec sheet

What kind of device, how long between charges, which phone it has to talk to and what you want it to measure. Every result is reviewed on this site, and the review is one click away.

The finder searches every product reviewed on this site. It does not rank them by anything we were paid to prefer, and it does not hide one because its listing is incomplete — a listing that never states a figure still appears, labelled not stated, because an incomplete listing is not a worse product.

Your requirements

What are you shopping for?

Battery life only means something within a type — a smart ring measured in days and a bright-screened smartwatch measured in days are doing very different work — so the class medians below are always computed inside one.

How long between charges?

The figure the maker publishes, which is measured with the screen dim, GPS off and notifications light. Real use is shorter, and always-on displays and workout tracking are what shorten it.

Which phone?

Most wearables pair with both, but the app and some features are usually better on one. A listing that names a single platform means it.

What should it measure?

The metrics the maker claims. Take a claimed measurement as a claim, not a clinical reading — none of these are medical devices unless the listing says the feature is cleared as one.

Safe to swim in

Only listings that state a swim rating (5 ATM, 50 metres or equivalent) are shown when this is ticked. Splash and sweat resistance is not the same thing, and absence means the maker did not say.

How to read the results

The figure on the right of each result is its battery life in days, and beneath it how far that sits from the median for its own type and battery class. Treat the published figure as a ceiling: it is measured with the screen dim, GPS off and notifications light, and an always-on display or a tracked workout will cut it hard. The bar shows where the device sits across its class, with the median marked.

Where a class holds fewer than eight products, no comparison is shown. That is a deliberate limit, not a missing feature. Read the review under each result opens this site’s review of that product; Check price on Amazon opens the listing.

Why incomplete listings still appear

Every figure here is the manufacturer’s, as quoted in the review. A filter that dropped everything it could not confirm would discard much of the catalogue the moment you answered, and what it discarded would not be worse products, only less completely described ones. So a filter excludes a product only when its listing positively contradicts what you asked for.

The catalogue is 629 wearables at the time of writing, and coverage of the questions varies: battery by 80%, platform by 83%, metrics by 78%, Safe to swim in by 18%. Those are the manufacturers’ own publishing habits, not gaps we chose to leave.

What the finder cannot tell you

It cannot tell you whether a heart rate reading is accurate, because that needs testing against a chest strap and this site does not test. It cannot treat any of these as medical devices, and neither should you unless the listing names a specific clearance. And it cannot tell you how long the maker will keep updating the software, which is what decides how long a smartwatch stays useful.
